💡 Sandy’s Crafting Tips & Hacks
The Permanent Bonding Duo (CreaTvDIY Signature): For a functional tray that needs to withstand use, always use a combination of Fix-All or E6000 for a long-term professional bond and supplement with hot glue for an immediate hold while you work.
The Leg-First Strategy: When adding height to your project, it is much easier to build and adhere the crystal legs to the bottom of the plate before you start embellishing the top surface.
The Glue String Removal Hack: Keep your reflective chrome and glass surfaces sparkling! Once the glue has cooled, take a dry paintbrush with soft bristles and simply twirl those pesky hot glue “spiderwebs” away for a flawless gallery-worthy shine.
Zero-Waste Design: This project uses a full pack of shower curtain rings. If you have any leftovers, you can decorate them with remaining gems to create a matching set of glitzy napkin holders for your dining table.
Instructions
Project 1: The Mirrored Serving Tray
Frame the Plate: Take your silver shower curtain rings and glue them along the perimeter of the charger plate. Leave about 1-2 millimeters of space between each ring to create an elegant, open-work border.
Add the “Diamond” Feet: Flip the plate over. Apply E6000 and hot glue to three oversized plastic diamonds and attach them in a triangle shape on the bottom of the plate.
Set the Mirror: Flip the tray right-side up. Apply adhesive to the back of the round mirror and press it into the center of the charger plate.
Hide the Seam: Glue a string of silver necklace beads around the edge where the mirror meets the plate to create a polished, high-end finish.
Project 2: Glitzy Napkin Rings
Prep the Base: Snap several shower curtain rings shut. These will serve as the base for your napkin holders.
Design with Gems: Using your gem picker and clear glue, apply an assortment of crystal gems along the outer surface of each ring.
Mix the Designs: Create variety by using different gem patterns on each ring—some with large center stones and others with a pavé effect. This adds a “collected” boutique look to your place settings.
