DIY Glam Wall Mirrors | 3 High-End Dollar Tree Upcycles

I was looking at a pile of basic wooden blocks and some simple dollar store mirrors, wondering how to turn them into a high-impact gallery wall. It’s amazing how a few kitchen spoons and some shimmering trim can give these budget finds a whole new life as sophisticated decor. Today, I’m showing you how I saved these items from the toy and kitchen aisles and upscaled them into a collection of shimmering wall mirrors that catch the light beautifully and feel completely custom.

Round wooden tray (Dollar Tree)
72-count wooden blocks (Jenga style)
Round black frame mirror (Dollar Tree)
Nine 10-inch square mirrors (for the grid mirror)
Silver rhinestone trim (self-adhesive)
Silver chrome car trim
Silver plastic spoons
14-inch wired wreath ring
4x4 Wood tiles or thin wood planks
Metal hook (repurposed from an old picture frame backing)

The Picture Frame Anchor: You don’t need to buy special hanging hardware. Cut a metal hook out of the cardboard backing of a budget picture frame, leaving a small border of cardboard, and bond it to your project with a mix of Fix-All and hot glue for a rock-solid hold.
Marker vs. Spray Paint: For two-toned designs, use metallic chrome paint markers instead of aerosol spray paint. They provide a much glossier sheen and save you the time and hassle of taping off the glass.
The Glue String Eraser: Because these mirrored surfaces show every smudge, hot glue “spiderwebs” can be a pain. Once your glue has cooled, take a dry, soft-bristled paintbrush and simply twirl those pesky strings away instantly.
Scoring Wood for Custom Planks: If you need specific sizes for reinforcement, you don’t need power tools. Use a box cutter and a ruler to score thin wood planks, then gently bend them back and forth until they snap into perfectly sized pieces.
Instructions
Project 1: The Blinged Sunburst Mirror
Wrap the Blocks: Cover 16 wooden blocks in self-adhesive silver rhinestone trim, leaving one large side untouched for better glue adhesion later.
Prep the Tray Base: Apply silver chrome car trim flush to the top edge of the wooden tray’s exterior. Flip the tray over and secure your repurposed metal hook to the back with the Fix-All and hot glue duo.
Detail the Mirror: Use silver and gold metallic chrome markers to paint the frame of the round mirror. Once dry, pop the mirror into the center of the tray.
Assemble the Border: Arrange your blinged wooden blocks in a snug circle inside the tray. Snap the handles off 11 silver plastic spoons and glue them evenly around the tray’s ridge using small dollops of hot glue.
Scale Up the Size: For a more substantial look, bond the finished tray to a 14-inch wired wreath ring. Add a second layer of spoon handles on a slant around the ring to create a wide, designer-style frame.
Project 2: The 3x3 Designer Grid Mirror
Align the Grid: Lay nine square mirrors face-down in a 3x3 pattern, making sure all edges are perfectly flush to avoid any uneven lines.
Secure the Backing: Use a screwdriver to tighten all the screws on the mirror backings to prevent any from popping out unexpectedly.
Reinforce the Seams: Strategically place wood tiles or custom-cut wood planks across the seams between the mirrors. Be careful to avoid placing them directly over the screws.
Bond for Permanence: Apply Fix-All for a long-term hold and hot glue for an instant bond to each wood piece. Press them firmly over the seams to join the nine mirrors into one solid unit.
Cure and Hang: Allow the adhesive to cure overnight before lifting the mirror to test its stability. Hang it above a console or chair rail for a high-impact, custom look.
